“NLP - It is Not an Explanation but an Experience”
“It is not an explanation but, an experience” was an interesting approach to this perceptual and behavioural phenomenon called neuro-linguistic programming, abbreviated as ‘NLP’. Through nearly fifty years of research and continuous modeling, NLP has managed to soar towards victory in a variety of fields and I have been lucky enough to play my own little part in this path towards ascertaining my potential. ‘Experience’ was a recurring noun during this event and surely, it did not fail to change my perspective in order to view the bigger picture.
A part of this eye-opening journey was through the shared encounter with people of varying ages and walks of life. Despite the generation gaps, the knowledge became like ageing cheese; stronger with age, more robust, more seasoned. The deep-seated short-term and long-term goals of those who had come past their prime was something golden to be exposed to and reviving to see grow.
Speaking off, ‘growth’ had metaphorically been a key factor in my fellow senior batches. Seeing their visions and planned goals bloom between their home-grown, hand-sown microgreen gardens had been equal parts motivating and humorous. Watching the green and grey unite over a novel personal development program was something that should have alarmed a teen such as myself, but instead, begot an entirely rejuvenating and exciting ride that I will cherish.
Realizing one’s potential is no easy task. Through the abundance of virtual glitches, cracky interfaces, and flaky connection, the experience had still occurred effortlessly and left all us never wanting the designated hours to end. We learned to accept ourselves which paired with our weaknesses and strengths. In the words of my two lovely coaches, unlearning before we learned the first steps to our transformation.
While some consider NLP to be influential, casual or any other fancier words, on the contrary, we have viewed this as a mental plan-of-action to building victorious individuals and applying these experiences to achieve a fantastic goal. Living with NLP is and will be like being moored to rock, never again seeming lost in the storms of life. The finest of gift that I am still seeking and that has got me thinking: maybe that it is time that I ‘strike gold in myself’.
